SURYAKUMAR WILL BE A FORGOTTEN CAPTAIN

Yes I said it. Suryakumar will not be remembered as one of the best captains of india side nor he will be remembered as one of the best tacticians of the game he was just above average in terms of captaincy, but Stats says something else

see this table we can see so many greats here from ms dhoni to kohli to rohit but a name which tops all the list is suryakumar yadav, who is no doubt a great player but is he better than all of these captains? no!!!, but what does he have different than others here?

1. Strong management

Gautam gambhir (head coach)

Ryan ten Doeschate (assistant coach)

T dilip( fielding coach)

morne morkel( bowling coach)

sitanshu kotak( batting coach)

These names are very important as they gave the support to the team where it was needed

Gautam gambhir one of the great minds of cricket , even shows glimpses of his managing skills as captain in ipl 2012 and 2014 leading kkr to two titles. His main aspect of his coaching and managing skills have been his approach towards the tempo and nature of the game evolving and changing the team culture with it .

1. Too many Match winners in squad

If we see the lineup of 2026 and 2024 both have alot of senior players missing including the likes of rohit, kohli and jadeja but we still won the world cup convincingly its because of the match winners we have produced in our indian cricket

from bumrah to hardik to surya to tialk to sanju to axar etc i cant name more i am tired so many match winners with experience of winning a title atleast once under 19 days or international or even ipl .

Yes surya was an under performer in the whole tournament except 2 games where he played good but nobody will even remember them as one of them was against usa , only people who watched that game will know the value of that knock . But thats the thing there is a saying “ A captain is as good as his team” but i would like to change this to “ a captain is only good if he is contributing for the team” and for suryas case it was since he took up the indian team captaincy he was having the worst slump in his t20i career the same guy who can score 700+ runs in an ipl season where he was not the captain and suddenly couldnt even score 300 in a flat deck tournament? That was a concern a serious concern!

This article will not be finished before giving you the picture of the other side of the spectrum even tho surya was not performing as a batsman he was still leading the side very well instilling the confidence whenever a player was going through a slump , reassuring every player that they will play all the games. as a captain he did everything as far as managing the player is concern

WHAT DO WE LEARN FROM THIS ?

Suryakumar might not be the greatest captain but he was a great leader who showed faith in sanju, who showed faith in axar, who showed faith in abhishek, who showed faith in ishan, who backed tilak to finish games, who backed dube , who gave varun chances, he put himself down the order to get the other players performing.

we can learn from surya how he was a team man always backed the team and always had the confidence that his team can win be it any series any tournament

And at last I just wanna throw a fact

suryakumar yadav is the only captain who has not lost a single series or tournament ever under his t20i captaincy what he could do no past captain has done it so for that
